Rectal Sessile Tubulovillous Adenoma

Adenomas are neoplastic lesions. Adenomas in the rectum and colon can be classified into stalked adenomas - easy to remove endoscopically - and sessile adenomas, seen in these pictures.

Rectal adenomos can be tubular, tubulovillous or villous. They all have a malignant potential and should be removed. The endoscopic appearance can give some information concerning the type, however only histologic examination gives a firm diagnosis.
