High Resolution Images: Secondary Amyloidosis in the Gastric Antrum

The endoscopic images in this site are mostly quite compressed in order to make the transmissions times as short as possible. Secondary amylodosis is a result of a chronic inflammatory disease as arthritis rheumatoides, Crohn´s disase - or malignancy, as multiple myeloma. In the gastrointestinal channes amyloidosis is most often found in the distal stomach, pylorus region or duodenal bulb. Typical endoscopic findings are prominent gastric folds, mucosal ulcerations, erythema or polyps. Delayed gastric emptying may result in bezoar formation.
