An innocent finding in the descending duodenum. The diverticulum is to the left, and the duodenal lumen to the right.

Duodenal Diverticulum
The diverticulum is in the upper part of this picture, and the lumen in the lower part.

Diverticulum adjacent to papilla Vater
This is a typical localization. In this picture the papilla is cannulated during an ERCP-examination, and the diverticulum is seen to the left of the papilla. Sometimes the papilla can be found inside a diverticula.

Typical x-ray-findings
Diverticulas like these are frequently found in small bowel x-ray examinations. They do not have any clinical significance, although it has been proposed, that they might contribute to bacterial growth in the small bowel, the small bowel contamination syndrome.
