This quite old lady had suffered from some loss of memory and was found to have a quite low B12-vitamin value. This is the finding in an upper endoscopy. What are these whitish mucosal changes in the mucosa in the lower part of her stomach (antrum and prepyloric region)?

Answer:

    Intestinal Metaplasia
    Intestinal metaplasia indicates atrophic gastritis and is a slightly premalignant lesion.
