This young lady had been operated on a few years earlier as she had a familial adenomatosis coli. A colectomy was done and she was in a perfect health. This is the finding in the gastric corpus and fundus in
a routine upper endoscopy follow up. These polyps - what are they, and should anything be done?
Answer:
Gastric hyperplastic polyps in a patient with familial adenomatosis coli.
Fundic gland polyps have the same apperance. These polyps do not have any malignant potential. However, these patients quite often have premalignant adenomas in their duodenum, so a regular follow up with upper endoscopy every two years is indicated.
