This middleaged lady had a rectal bleeding a few months before this colonoscopic examination. Now she was quite symptomfree. The large bowel was normal but this is the finding in the rectum. What disease is this?

Answer

This was not an easy question after all. I thought that this was a typical rectal Crohn, especially the small ulcer resembles an aphthoid lesion. But histology was inconclusive, and it is quite possible that this actually is a solitary rectal ulcer disease. Perhaps follow up will give a more definite answer in time, and then this text will be uppdated. A majority of the answers was solitary rectal ulcer.

Comments:

Solitary rectal ulcer. Crohn disease must beexcluded witht a biopsy
Enfermedad inflamatoria intestinal compatib con COLITIS ULCERATIVA
I have an idea for two answers, my first clue is for the site of the lession a Colitis Ulcerative but the age is against that, my second thought is a MELANOSIS made by laxatives.
