This middleaged lady was examined because of epigastrial pain probably of musculosceletal origin. These polyps were found in the corpus region of the stomach. What are they? Should they be removed?

Answer:

Gastric hyperplastic polyps. No, they do not need to be removed, but they - and the surrounding mucosa - should be biopsied.

GASTRIC POLYPS : Familial Polyposis Coli Syndrome (FPC). 2. NOT BE REMOVED, BUT PERIODIC ENDOSCOPIC SURVEILLANCE IS RECOMMENDED BECAUSE OF THE RISK OF CARCINOMA ELSEWHERE IN THE STOMACH. HYPERPLASTIC POLYPS ARE THE MOST COMMON POLYPOID LESIONS OF THE STOMACH.
These are non-neoplastic polyps and do not require removal
Multiple Gastric polyps.95%are hyperplastic,and is unnecessary to remouve it.
gastritis cystica polyposis/or multiple polypoid cystic gastritis/or gastritis cystica.
Hyperplastic polyps. They do not need to be removed, perhaps just one for a histopathologic verification
