Question:

This quite old lady had suffered from a slight iron deficiency anaemia for about five years. An upper endoscopy did not provide any explanation. A colonoscopy showed some diverticulas in her sigmoid colon. This is the finding an her caecum. What is this finding?

Answer:

    Caecal angiodysplasia.

    Caecal angiodysplasias vary in size and appearances. About one third of all angiodysplasias in the colon are seen in the caecum. Here are some other examples of caecal angiodysplasias:
