This lady in her eighties, previously healthy, had experienced some swallowing difficulites during several years. She had not lost weight however, and had no iron deficiency anaemia. We tried to do an upper endoscopy, but it was impossible to get the endoscope into the oesophagus. This is the finding in an x-ray examintion of the oesophagus. In the first picture a so called "jet phenomen" is seen (marked J). What is this finding?

Comments:

This was not an easy question and xray pictures do now show up as good as endoscopic pictures in the internet. A cervical oesophageal web can be part of a Plummer-Winson syndrome.
