Anus, Normal Findings

The normal anal region seen through a colonoscope in an inverted position, the colonoscope coming through the anal channel is seen in the picture. The veins are often a little dilated in the distal rectum - in a patient with haemorroids, they are much more dilated.

The anal canal can be easily examined during the passage of the colonoscope through the anus.
