Oesophageal Pseudovarices

Quite large prominent veins can be seen in the upper or middle part of the oesophagus, sometimes so dilated, that a suspicion of oesophageal varices is suggested. These isolated prominent veins are however not seen in the distal part of the oesophagus (were the varices are located).

These dilated veins in the upper part of the oesophagus does not have any clinical significance.
