Antrum
High resolution image: A perstaltic wave in the gastric antrum
The lower part of the stomach is called the antrum. The antral peristaltic wavebrings the food and stomach juice mixture to the pylorus.
Tha antral wall is metabolically active, producing e.g. gastrin and other gastrointestinal hormones.
