High resolution image: the gastric fundus


The fundus is best seen by inverting the gastroscope to see the dome-shaped upper portion of the stomach. In this picture, the gastroscope coming down through the hiatus is seen.

When the patient is lying on the left side, the gastric juice is seen to the left in the fundus (in this picture in the lower part of the picture), called "the mucous lake".
