"Prompted by suggestions received from numerous societies and colleagues, we are in the process of organizing an international congress on the theme of high-tech medicine, to take place on the occasion of the World exhibition in the year 2000, in Hanover. The intention of this international congress is to provide numerous experts and colleagues and also the general public with an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the most modern techniques of high-tech medicine both in theoty and practice, as well as to exchange knowledge and information by means of major sessions, free-paper sessions, video presentation, posters, live transmissions, workshops, exhibition of inventions, round-table talks and discussions.The main thrust of our interest will cover the field of minimally invasive techniques, image processing, developments in the area of ultrasound, computer-aided monitoring and interventions, surgical navigation and simulation, technical innovations and inventions, the latest technologies in the field of medical education and training, and telemedicine and, finally, information technologies and the ! internet.We are targeting experts from the disciplines of surgery, gastroenterology, anaesthesia and intensive care medicine, radiology, ultrasound and medical engineering, as well as finally, computer and information technology."
